All about Acai
So, what makes acai so special that there are entire bowls dedicated to this one ingredient? Acai is a superberry sourced only from acai palm trees in the amazonian rainforest. Once picked, the berry is frozen and freeze-dried to preserve its potency. This deep purple berry is celebrated worldwide for its whole host of health benefits. It has a completely unique nutritional profile, being high in fat and low in sugar and it is these fats that make the bowl so satiating and ideal for hungry breakfast lovers. Acai is also extremely high in antioxidants, boasting 3x the amount than blueberries. These antioxidants work to reduce free radicals in the body, promote glowing and healthy skin and reduce the risk of diseases such as diabetes. The berries are also proven to reduce cholesterol, have anti-cancer properties and boost brain function. Long story short, this exotic superberry is a must-have in everyone's diet and our acai bowl is by far the easiest way to incorporate it.
1 acai Smoothie Pack or 2 tablespoons of acai powder ( available from major supermarkets such as Sainsburys and Ocado)
Fresh fruit: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and kiwi
1 cup of sugar free granola
Nut butter and edible flowers (optional)
Pop your acai pack or powder, Boost Me Berry Smoothie, banana and dairy-free milk in a high powered blender and blend until at a thick smoothie consistency.
Pour the mix into your chosen bowl and drizzle the raw honey on top.
It’s now time for the fun bit! Get arty with your toppings and arrange them in the most creative way possible. Slice your fruit into segments and layer them neatly on top of the smoothie. Then sprinkle your coconut, chia seeds and almonds in the gaps.
If you're all about extravagance and have chosen the optional toppings, you can swirl the nut butter into the acai smoothie and add a final flourish with some gorgeous edible flower detail.
