Wired but tired?

So much to do, so little time to do it. It’s no wonder we feel exhausted with it all sometimes. So, it’s important that we learn how to gain and channel our energy for the overall wellness of women, not drain it.

 

And relax…

We all have different interpretations of what relaxing means. To unwind, loosen up, chill out or slow down. Whatever way you think about it, relaxation is an awesome thing to do as it helps to increase our sense of calm and reduces stress. In short, relaxing is uber important for our wellbeing. Like everything in life, different practices work for different people and can include anything from deep breathing, positive thinking and even laughing, to meditation and mindfulness. But just look at what each one has the power to do:

 

- enhances energy

- increases immunity

- promotes more restful sleep

- increases concentration

- lessens mood swings

- helps reduce anxiety and stress

 

 

Meditation and mindfulness

Simply, it’s about being in the present moment and not worrying about the past or future. It’s about letting in the calm and focusing your energy on the moment in time. There are different types you can do, trying an app and discovering what works for you is a great place to start.

 

Mindful appreciation and positive thinking 

We can often spend far too much time aspiring to bigger and better things, so much so that we miss the good stuff that’s happening right now. Affirmations are positive statements you make to yourself which can help counter negative thoughts. They should be in the present tense, personal and specific to the moment, things like: ‘I can do this’, ‘I have a great life’, ‘I am loved’, ‘I am valuable’.

 

 

Here’s to laughing 

Never underestimate the power of laughter. It’s seriously one of the best feelings in the world. Whether it’s a giggle, belly laugh or one of those gut-wrenching laughs that actually hurts (and makes you scoot to the loo just in case!) nothing on earth beats it. Why? Because apart from anything else, when you laugh your body produces chemicals that helps with stress. So, more laughter please!

 

Hobbies and pleasures

Isn’t it nice having something just for you that doesn’t involve your day job? Hopefully, you enjoy what you do for a living, but if you don’t so much then a hobby can open your mind to all sorts of possibilities. They’re also a reminder that we have many sides that make us one whole person, so doing something that enhances one of those sides of you in a positive fun way can be hugely refreshing and inspiring.
